Euma! I'm trying to do more art, but web design has taken over my life. Got this done finally though.
( Euma in the Mountains )
I have forgotten how to use Photoshop for drawing. I need to do it more often.

I finally finished the sketch of this picture. Actually, I've had it done for awhile, but I forgot to upload it anywhere. So here's Blackbird, getting ready to paint.
( Blackbird the Coyote )
I think she's pretty.

It started off as a doodle of a wolf, and then it just grew. A dream wolf for my own dream Wolf, Ash. Yeah, that's retardedly-romantic, but ah well. Markers and colored pencils.

Yay wolf!

After too many months, I finally finished the August Contest Prize for
brigits_flame. The mini contest was for the best short story about Neverland and the winner was
smz1231994 and this piece is the prize!

I felt like doing something simple.
I need to make more simple things in life.

A to-do List, art style. I really need to get on this. Why am I so slow?
01. Brigit's Flame Contest Art - Neverland
02. Kristin's WoW Art
03. Lisa's Birthday Card
04. Meg's Art Trade
05. Leigh's Art Trade
06. Mary's Commission
07. Any other art trades I started
It's honestly taking forever to re-teach myself Photoshop for the Neverland picture. I've worked on it more, but it's definitely a slow process.

I'm part of an online writing community. Every month or so, a small mini-contest is held, and last month I offered to do some art for the winner. The subject for the story was Neverland. I'll write more about it when I get this done.
This is a work in progress - I might take this down when I get it finished. I'm putting more detail into this than I've ever really done before so it's taking me a long time to get it done.
( Neverland )
Anyway, yeah. Neverland. Work in progress.

A finished piece, oh my. Lauren Underwood, an old character, going for a hike while a storm blows in on the horizon. I haven't done anthro art in awhile, nor have I used my markers in I don't know how long. Just markers, nothing else.
( A Good Hike )
I'm slowly getting into the swing again.

Just a little coyote that I drew up in Photoshop CS3 for the new blog design I'm working on.

Yay.

More sketches from the sketchbooks.
( Sketches )
That's it for now. Hopefully I'll get some finished art up here soon.

I've been behind in scanning, and the other day I spent the entire morning doing nothing else. So here's a batch of fresh sketches from my sketchbooks.

Yay for unfinished art?

I'm trying to get back into writing in a paper journal again, so I found an old leather journal and spruced up the outside.

It's more welcoming now. I can't wait to start writing in it!

One of 100 down. A Tegaki E art for #12.
I had a few ideas I wanted to do for this one, but this is what came out.
( 12. Insanity )
I'm still getting used to my tablet, please bare with me. Comments appreciated.

In an attempt to make sure I keep myself into the whole art thing, and not fall out of it like I did for several years, I'm going to try that long ass 100 Themes Art Meme that's been going on for a long while now. Of course, I will not be quick in getting this done, but it'd be something good to do when I'm bored and can't think of anything to draw or pain.
( 100 Themes )
I can't see myself going in order, so it's more like I'll draw when something hits me. If you get bored, give it a try and see what you come up with. This might be fun.

Welcome to Flea bitten Art! This journal is now the online sketchpad for my art. You'll see a large variety of art, from traditional paintings, to tegaki doodles, to digital tablet art. I will also use it to post about Commission and Art Trade statuses, as well as any articles I come across in the field of illustration.
Who am I? I am the artist, Nikki Jeske. I chose the name Flea Bitten Art because I'm not the most tamed or groomed coyote you'll ever meet. My first art site was Blackswatch Art because I was into plaid at the time; the second was Paper Leaves but that never fully got off the ground; and now I have Flea Bitten Art. It suits me better, I do believe.
So welcome to the livejournal showcase of the art of Nikki Jeske. Don't steal the art, don't mess with it, and don't ever claim it's yours. On account of the fact that it's not.
Enjoy!
